About the Journal

The AJPMH encouraging submissions that look at priority mental health problems and those that take an Asian regional focus on mental health problems, quality of life, and mental health, suicide prevention and  treatment. Articles from authors in all countries exploring the burden of mental diseases in their own constituencies are welcome. The journal welcomes four major categories of articles including original research papers, systematic review and/or meta-analysis, brief research reports, and letters to the editor on urgent issues pertinent to psychiatry and mental health facing the national and regional communities.

The AJPMH covers a wide range of topics related to psychiatry and mental health, with a focus on the unique cultural and regional aspects of mental well-being in Asia. Some of the key topics that you can expect to find in this journal include:

1. Cultural Psychiatry: Exploring the impact of culture, traditions, and beliefs on mental health, and how cultural factors influence psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes in Asian populations.

2. Mental Health in Asia: Research and discussions about the prevalence, incidence, and specific mental health challenges in different Asian countries, as well as cross-cultural comparisons.

3. Psychiatric Disorders: In-depth studies on various psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and more, with an emphasis on their manifestation and management in Asian contexts.

4. Cultural Competence: Strategies and best practices for mental health professionals to provide culturally sensitive care to their patients in Asia.

5. Psychological Interventions: Research on psychotherapy, counseling, and other psychological interventions that are effective in addressing mental health issues in Asian populations.

6. Public Mental Health: Studies on the policies, programs, and initiatives aimed at improving public mental health, and the unique challenges faced by Asian countries in promoting mental well-being.

7. Traditional Healing Practices: Investigations into the integration of traditional healing and complementary therapies in psychiatric treatment in Asia, and their effectiveness in conjunction with modern mental health practices.

8. Child and Adolescent Mental Health: Research on the mental health issues affecting children and adolescents in Asia, including factors like academic pressure, family dynamics, and social media influences.

9. Geriatric Mental Health: Studies focusing on the mental health challenges faced by the elderly in Asian societies, with an emphasis on dementia, depression, and caregiving.

The journal in general will not accept laboratory based and animal model studies that are not relevant to Asian Journal of Psychiatry and Mental Health.
